9 Fashion Secrets for Women Over 30

A woman over the age of 30 is likely at the peak of her career and is possibly caring for a family of her own. With a multitude of stressful responsibilities to worry about, many women do not have the time to put a lot of thought in their appearance.

If you are one of these women over 30 who are in need of a few fashion tips, here are some secrets you should pay attention to:

1.Invest in properly fitting undergarments.

Throw away those ill-fitting bras and oversized granny panties. Head on to a lingerie store and get yourself some proper fitting underwear. Ask the saleslady to measure your chest if you aren’t sure that you’re wearing the right size of bra.

2. Don’t buy clothing that doesn’t fit.

It may look good on you in theory, but don’t buy it if it doesn’t fit you right now. You may be planning to lose extra pounds with that diet you’re about to start, but that doesn’t mean you should buy a dress in one size down. If it doesn’t fit, don’t get it.

3. Don’t be afraid to accessorize.

Accessories are the answer to creating a wide array of different looks. Mix and match your bags, shoes, belts, jewelry and other accessories to come up with interesting and stylish looks that never get old.

4. Own a great pair of jeans.

You may be dressed in corporate clothing most of the time, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t own a good-fitting pair of denim jeans. Invest in a dark indigo pair of jeans for days you want to dress down yet still be comfortable and stylish.

5. Watch those necklines.

You may have a great pair of breasts, but that doesn’t mean you have to show them off to everyone you meet. Start dressing conservatively and cover yourself up more. Stay away from overly plunging necklines. You may opt to show very little cleavage—but make sure that your outfit is appropriate for the occasion.

6. Avoid buying clothes that your children would wear.

Let’s face it—you’re over the age of 30 and your children are not. If you’re purchasing an item of clothing that looks like something a teenager would wear, then put it down and walk away. Wear clothes that are age appropriate and that flatter your body shape and size.

7. Do away with the miniskirt.

You may have a great pair of legs, but that doesn’t mean you need to wear a micro miniskirt to do so. Show off those sexy, long legs with a knee-length pencil cut skirt. Pair this skirt with a great pair of heels and you’re ready to go. If it’s winter, however, you might want to wear a pair of black tights under that skirt.

8. Skip the cross trainers.

Your rubber shoes may be really comfortable, but that doesn’t mean you should wear it to the office or even to the grocery store. A pair of ballet flats is just as comfortable and is a lot more sophisticated.

9. Develop a signature look.

If your closet is full of basic clothing, then give yourself some room to play with colors and develop a signature look. You may opt to wear a chunky necklace or bracelet with your plainer outfits, or perhaps complement your outfit with a colorful bag or shawl.
